Dermopigmentation or micropigmentation is a form of semi-permanent makeup that introduces hypoallergenic pigments into the dermal layer of the skin using a digital device and fine needles. Thus, the shape of the eyebrows, eyes and lips is improved. This procedure is different from a tattoo because it works on the surface of the skin and is not permanent. No pigments for body tattoos are used, but pigments specially created for micropigmentation and the device is a digital one, with specific settings for each area.
Micropigmentation procedures can range from a natural hairstrokes for a fully eyebrows effect to a well-contoured make-up eyebrow appearance. Semi-permanent eyelid makeup can create a smokey eyes effect or just contour the eyes giving the lashes more volume. Lips can be defined with the help of micropigmentation if they have lost their natural contour and colour.
The semi-permanent make-up is done for both aesthetic and medical purposes. Dermopigmentation is performed as the final stage in the reconstruction of the areola after a mastectomy, camouflage of scars and burns, coverage of vitiligo spots, hair pigmentation in case of baldness or after transplantation and coverage of scalp scars.
Tattoo removal is done by 2 methods: laser method and chemical method. At JO&JULZZ Clinique we use ND YAG laser technology with 2 wavelengths 1064 nm for black, purple, dark blue and 532nm for red, brown, pink, orange.
The pigments used in micropigmentation and semi-permanent makeup are at a fairly shallow depth under the skin and usually a laser or chemical solution is sufficient to have optimal results.
